PBIS

Antioch CCSD 34 is committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment for all students.

What is PBIS?

PBIS is a framework that schools use to improve student behavior and create a positive school climate. It involves teaching and reinforcing expectations, recognizing and rewarding good behavior, and providing support for students who need extra help. PBIS is not a one-size-fits-all program; it is a flexible approach that can be tailored to meet the needs of our diverse student population.

Why PBIS?

PBIS has been shown to improve student behavior, reduce disciplinary incidents, and increase academic performance. By focusing on positive behavior, we create a more supportive and productive learning environment for all students. PBIS also fosters a sense of community and collaboration among students, staff, and families.

Key Components of PBIS

Clear Expectations: We establish and communicate clear expectations for behavior in all school settings. These expectations are simple, positive, and consistent across the district.

Teaching Positive Behaviors: We actively teach students what positive behavior looks like through lessons, modeling, and practice. This helps students understand and internalize the expectations.

Recognition and Rewards: We recognize and reward students for demonstrating positive behavior. This can include verbal praise, certificates, special activities, and other incentives.

Support Systems: We provide additional support for students who need help meeting behavior expectations. This includes individualized interventions and support plans.

Data-Driven Decisions: We use data to monitor student behavior, assess the effectiveness of our interventions, and make informed decisions to improve our PBIS practices.

OUR PBIS MISSION

Our mission is to create a positive and inclusive school environment where every student feels valued and empowered to succeed. We believe that positive behavior is the foundation for academic and social success, and we are dedicated to teaching and reinforcing these behaviors throughout the district.

RESOURCES

PBIS Points and PBIS Store

As part of our PBIS program, students can earn PBIS points for demonstrating positive behaviors such as showing respect, being responsible, and making safe choices. These points can be accumulated and redeemed at our PBIS Store, where students can "purchase" a variety of prizes and privileges.

How It Works:

Earn Points: Students earn PBIS points through daily interactions with teachers, staff, and peers by meeting or exceeding our behavioral expectations.

Track Points: Points are tracked using a digital system, which allows students and parents to monitor their progress.

Spend Points: Students have the opportunity to spend their points at the PBIS Store, which is stocked with a wide range of prizes, from school supplies and toys to special privileges like extra recess time or lunch with a favorite teacher. The store is open on designated days, giving students the opportunity to use their points to "shop" for items they want.
